  • PIVOT 1.5 CAL is a very-high-protein, calorically dense, immune-supporting, hydrolyzed, peptide-based enteral formula for use in metabolically stressed, immunosuppressed patients, such as those with major elective surgery, trauma, and burns.
  • Use under medical supervision.

Features
  • 1.5 Cal/mL—concentrated calories for fluid-restricted patients.
  • An advanced blend of hydrolyzed protein, structured lipid and prebiotic (NutraFlora® scFOS®*), to promote absorption and tolerance.
  • 1.8 g of NutraFlora® scFOS®*/8 fl oz (7.5 g/L). scFOS are prebiotic soluble fibers that stimulate the growth of beneficial bacteria in the colon.
  • Very high protein (93.8 g/L, 25% of calories) to support protein synthesis, tissue repair and wound healing.
  • Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA, 2.6 g/L; DHA, 1.3 g/L) to help modulate inflammation and support immune function.1,2
  • A hydrolyzed, peptide-based protein system.  
  • Arginine (13 g/L, 3.5% of calories) to support proliferation and function of immune cells.
  • Glutamine (inherent) (7.6 g/L) for GI-tract integrity and energy for immune cells.
  • Elevated antioxidants vitamin C, vitamin E and beta-carotene to help reduce free radical damage.  
  • Meets or exceeds 100% of the RDIs for 24 vitamins and minerals in 1500 Cal (1000 mL).

Preparation

  • Instructions for Use: Ready-To-Hang Container

    All liquid medical foods, regardless of type of administration system, require careful handling because they can support microbial growth. Follow these instructions for clean technique and proper setup to reduce the potential for microbial contamination. NOTE: Failure to follow the Instructions for Use increases the potential for microbial contamination and reduces hangtime.
    • Pump feeding is recommended; use an 8 Fr or larger tube. Gravity feeding not recommended.
    • Administer product at room temperature.
    • THOROUGHLY wash hands with soap and water before handling container or feeding set.
    • Turn container upside down and SHAKE VIGOROUSLY, using a twisting motion for at least 10 seconds.
    • DO NOT touch any part of the container or feeding set that comes into contact with the formula.
    • When initiating feeding, follow physician's instructions. Adjust flow rate and volume according to patient's condition and tolerance.
    • Additional fluid requirements should be met by giving water between or after feedings or when flushing the tube.
    • Follow Directions for Use provided with Abbott feeding set.
    For Use with Abbott Piercing Pin Set:
    • Lift tab to remove sticker from cap, taking care NOT to touch port. DO NOT remove the plastic cap.
    • Insert spike into preattached cap, completely pierce foil, and turn 1/4 turn.
    • Close clamp on set before inverting container.
    • Invert container and suspend, using the hanging ring on the bottom of the container.
    • Hang product up to 48 hours after initial spike when clean technique and only one new set is used. Otherwise, hang no longer than 24 hours.
    For Use with Abbott Safety Screw Connector Set:
    • Remove the dust cover from the RTH Safety Screw Cap.
    • Remove the dust cover from the Safety Screw Connector Set.
    • Insert the Safety Screw Connector Set into the port on the RTH Safety Screw Cap, completely pierce foil.
    • Turn the Safety Screw Connector Clockwise until it is securely fastened.
    • Close clamp on set before inverting container.
    • Invert container and suspend, using the hanging ring on the bottom of the container.
    • Hang product up to 48 hours when clean technique and only one Screw Cap feeding set is used.
    For Use with Abbott Screw Cap Set:
    • Remove plastic cap from RTH container taking care NOT to touch the foil seal.
    • Visually inspect foil for signs of leakage. DO NOT use if leakage is apparent.
    • Secure 40 mm Screw Cap set onto the RTH container.
    • Close clamp on set before inverting container.
    • Invert container and suspend, using the hanging ring on the bottom of the container.
    • Hang product up to 24 hours when clean technique and only one Screw Cap feeding set is used.

  • Instructions for Use: 8-fl-oz can 
    • Store unopened at room temperature.
    • Shake well. Pivot 1.5 is ready to use.
    • Clean top of container thoroughly before opening.
    • Once opened, cover, refrigerate and use within 48 hours.
    Tube Feeding:
    • Follow physician's instructions.
    • Adjust flow rate and volume according to patient's condition and tolerance.
    • Feed by pump at room temperature with an 8 Fr or larger tube; gravity feeding not recommended.
    • Additional fluid requirements should be met by giving water between or after feedings or when flushing the tube.
    • Avoid contamination during preparation and use.
