Premature Infant Formula with Iron
  • A 30 Cal/fl oz iron-fortified feeding for growing, low-birth-weight infants and premature infants. Suitable for use as a human milk fortifier and/or a breast milk extender when mixed 1:1 with human milk.
  • Use under medical supervision.

Features
  • First 30-Cal/fl oz ready-to-feed liquid preterm infant formula for delivery of high-calorie, nutrient-dense feedings.
  • Highest caloric density preterm formula.
  • Formulated to maximize nutrient intake during periods of fluid restriction.
  • Calcium and phosphorus at concentrations - and ratio (1.8:1) - that supports intrauterine accretion rates.1
  • DHA and ARA, nutrients naturally found in breastmilk that are important for brain and eye development.
  • Lutein and DHA to support the developing eyes and brain.
  • Has a unique blend of nucleotides to help support the developing immune system.
  • Approximately 2 mg iron/kg body weight per day, when fed at 120 Cal/kg body weight per day.
  • Mixes easily with other Similac® Special Care® formulas for a variety of high-caloric, nutrient-dense formulas–helps eliminate potential for mixing errors.

Precautions

  • Never use a microwave oven to warm formula. Serious burns can result.
  • If signs of intolerance develop, slow feeding or discontinue.
  • Not intended for feeding low-birth-weight infants after they reach a weight of 3600 g (approximately 8 lb) or as directed by a doctor.

Preparation

  • Can be mixed 1:1 with human milk or to a variety of caloric densities using the Similac® Special Care® Liqui-Mix® System. Follow the directions for mixing and use as prescribed by your baby's doctor.

  • Ready to Feed

    The health of the infant depends on carefully following the directions for preparation and use. Proper hygiene, handling and storage are important when preparing infant formula.
    • Do not add water.
    • Shake very well.
    • Do not use if breakaway ring is missing or broken.
    • Twist off cap.
    • Twist on nipple and ring.
    • Pour desired amount into feeding container or attach nipple and ring (not included).
    • Once oral feeding begins, use within one hour or discard.
    • If signs of intolerance develop, slow feeding or discontinue.


Storage & Handling

  • Ready to Feed
    • Avoid prolonged exposure of bottles to light.
    • Store unopened at room temperature; avoid extreme temperatures.
    • If original bottle was not used for feeding, recap immediately and store in refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
